RIISAM204E Operate Small Plant and Equipment
This course provides a valuable pathway for workers looking to formalise existing skills, upskill for new job opportunities, or meet worksite compliance requirements.
You will learn about:
- Planning and preparing to work with small plant and equipment.
- Choosing and checking the equipment before you use it.
- Using small plant and equipment safely.
- Cleaning up after work.
A Statement of Attainment will be issued on successful completion of the unit requirements.
This unit alone does not provide sufficient skill to independently load and unload equipment. To perform this activity safely, personnel must either complete or be assisting someone who has completed RIIHAN308F Load and unload plant or equivalent.

Learn how to plan for, select, operate, maintain, and safely shut down a range of small plant and equipment used in civil construction and related industries. This includes hands-on training in real or simulated workplace conditions to build your operational competence.
A Statement of Attainment will be issued on successful completion of the unit requirements.
There are no mandatory pre-requisites to this unit of competence, but all learners must be 18 years of age or over and had prior practical operator experience.

- PPC - Steel cap boots, appropriate clothing (ie long sleeve shirt, long pants, hat)

On-site based training and assessing undertaken at our training ground or client premises (upon request), with prior approval of site specific resources, appropriateness of equipment and facilities/training arena.

- Language Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) Requirements
All learners must be able to read and comprehend English to a level that will enable them to safely conduct work activities. Fulltilt Training (FTT) recognises that some learners may require addition support and are fully prepared to support each learner throughout the course duration.
On enrolment, all candidates will complete a short language, literacy and numeracy (LLN) test, which will assist FTT trainers and assessors to determine any support requirements.
